Since its foundation, ESAD adopted internationalisation as a strategy of scientific and pedagogic assertion that passes through the ERASMUS programme exchange, the mobility of students, teachers and staff, the dissemination of academic projects and the accomplishment of events and design publications. Currently, ESAD has several bilateral partnerships and contracts with more than 150 higher education institutions, from all over the world.

For the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of ERASMUS/ERASMUS+ Mobility Programme at ESAD, the school organizes an International Week inviting several partner schools from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Romania, Turkey, Austria, Lithuania, and Poland to join the celebration.

The highlight of the programme is the conference on High Education in Design: Didactic and Pedagogical Experiences with ESAD, promoting a reflection on the educational project of the collaborating institutions, and on the impact of the ERASMUS programme in each one.
