Ana Duque

Ana Lúcia Duque has a doctorate from the Universitat Politècnica de València and a master's degree in Design and Multimedia Production from the Universitat de Barcelona. Her doctoral thesis centred on the calligraphic work of Manuel Barata, a 16th century Portuguese calligrapher. In 2009, in partnership with the Lusíadas Studies Centre at the University of Minho, she published the facsimile of the digital awork "Exemplares de Diversas Sortes de Letras de Manuel Barata, 1592". This research has led her to take part in international conferences, where she has presented papers and published articles on the author and his work.

Between 2012 and 2017, she was a guest lecturer at the School of Arts and Design (ESAD), the School of Architecture and Arts of the University of Minho and the Gallaecia School, as part of the Esad-Idea, LAB2PT - Design for Sustainable Development, Heritage and Territory research units. From 2013 to 2015, she took part in the European research and teaching project "Tempus 3D: Design pour le développement durable des productions artisanales locales", collaborating with the Gallaecia School and the Universities of Florence (UNIFI), Tunisia (ESSTED and ISBAS), Turin Polytechnic (POLITO) and Barcelona (UB).

From 2018 to 2024, Ana Lúcia Duque chaired the Pedagogical Council of the School of Arts and Design (ESAD), was a member of the Technical-Scientific Council and coordinated the Postgraduate Programme in Communication Design and Water Literacy, promoted by BlueDesignAlliance. She is currently affiliated to the Esad-Idea research unit and carries out research in the field of Design, teaching History of Design, Contemporary Cultural Themes and Creative Processes.
