Un mundo feliz

Under the Erasmus+ teacher mobility programme 2023/24, on 13 and 14 May ESAD will host the collective "Un Mundo Feliz" (A Happy World), made up of Sonia Díaz and Gabriel Martínez (Madrid, Spain), for a workshop, conference and exhibition. The current international crisis and the intensification of conflicts all over the planet have brought us as designers face to face with problems that force us to reconsider the ethical and social responsibility issues inherent in the activity of design.

Faced with such a complex and demanding scenario, it is imperative to train designers who are more and responsible in the face of the major issues facing contemporary society. How should designers act in the face of social, political, cultural and environmental changes in a society whose values are being reconfigured? With awareness? With reflection? With positioning? Design takes on this responsibility of change and transformation in the face of new paradigms and new realities.

In a period of intense political, social, cultural and environmental drama, the work developed by the "Un Mundo Feliz" collective triggers the analysis, debate and formulation of issues related to graphic activism, promoting a more integral and conscious academic education.

These events are co-ordinated by ESAD professors João Lemos and Margarida Azevedo.
