Cookie Policy

This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on esad.pt and esadidea.pt and how you can control them. The controller is C.I.F.A.D. — Centro de Investigação e Formação em Artes e Design, Lda., company number 502147350, the founding entity of ESAD — Escola Superior de Artes e Design ("ESAD" in this document). Our processing of personal data generally is described in the Privacy Policy.
Under Article 5 of Lei no. 41/2004, we may only store or read information on your device with your prior consent, except where strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
How you control cookies
On your first visit, a notice lets you Accept all, Reject all, or choose category by category. No statistics or marketing cookie is placed before you allow it.
You can change or withdraw your decision at any time via Cookie preferences in the footer of every page. When you withdraw a permission we delete the cookies of the categories you no longer allow and reload the page. Your decision applies per site — esad.pt and esadidea.pt ask separately — and for 180 days, after which we ask again.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block session cookies, you will no longer be able to use the restricted area.

Necessary. They make the site work — they keep you signed in, store your language and theme and record your cookie decision — and do not depend on consent.

Local and session storage
We keep a few preferences in your browser's local and session storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). This information is never sent to our servers and none of these keys identifies you. You can clear them in your browser settings, in the same option that clears cookies.

Statistics without cookies
Usage statistics are produced by Umami, installed on ESAD's own servers. It sets no cookies and writes nothing to your device; it reads a single local-storage key — umami.disabled — solely to respect anyone who has turned collection off. That read is strictly necessary to honour your objection, so it does not depend on consent. What Umami receives is described in the Privacy Policy.
To turn collection off in this browser, set the local-storage key umami.disabled to 1 in your browser's developer tools. You may also object by writing to info@esad.pt.
Third-party content
Some pages include YouTube or Vimeo videos; the Erasmus partner-schools page shows a map whose tiles are served by CARTO. We request this content in cookie-free mode — YouTube videos from youtube-nocookie.com and Vimeo videos with "do not track" enabled — and we have confirmed that neither the videos nor the map stores or reads information on your device. They therefore do not appear in the tables above and do not depend on your consent.
What does happen is different: when you open one of those pages, your IP address is disclosed to the content provider, which applies its own policies. Who receives what is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes
This policy carries its own version, shown at the top, and is updated whenever we add or remove a tool.
