Exploratório

Design&Drinks is a monthly series of talks that brings together different design schools to share experiences, ideas, and perspectives on the role of design today.

The meetings take place at Exploratório — Headquarters of Porto Design Biennale, a dynamic space dedicated to exhibitions, talks, workshops, and events that bring design closer to the community.

Each session features a conversation, followed by a get-together at the bar, providing an informal space for networking among participants.

In this session, we welcome Carlos Casimiro Costa & Jacinta Costa, Mariana Domingues and Rita Gata Vilela, from UPB – Polytechnic University of Bragança, who will share her experiences and perspectives on design.

Carlos Casimiro Costa [ccc] and Jacinta Costa
Both were born in the 1970s (1970 and 1974). They hold undergraduate degrees in Equipment Design from ESAD – College of Art and Design, Matosinhos. They have taught at the Polytechnic University of Bragança (UPB) since 2007 and 2001, respectively. Working between design and the fine arts, they have taken part in exhibitions, biennales and fairs, and have worked with companies and organisations in art, communication design and industrial/product design. Their work comes from living in a small village in the Montesinho Natural Park. It reflects a relationship with tangible and intangible heritage, in interventions where design, art, installation, sculpture and performance come together as one.

Mariana Domingues
She graduated in Multimedia from EsACT and also studied at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Poland. She began her professional career in Porto at Miew Creative Studio and went on to specialise through EDIT’s intensive Mastering UI/UX course. She has developed design and illustration projects as a freelancer. She is currently part of the Peers Studio team and is taking the Creative Writing course at Restart (RTP).

Rita Gata Vilela
She holds a degree in Art and Design from the Polytechnic University of Bragança (minor in Design). She is completing a Master’s in Industrial and Product Design, run jointly by the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Her studies have focused on product development, material exploration and sustainability-oriented solutions.

We look forward to seeing you there to launch this space for sharing, reflection and socialising, thereby bringing together the academic and professional design communities in Portugal.
