Cláudia Garrido began her artistic career, focused on the art of designing, at Escola Artística e Profissional Árvore. This was followed by the creation of her own collections and for other brands and the respective production in China (quality control), only interrupted by the desire to evolve, which directed her to the Degree in Fashion Design at the School of Arts and Design (ESAD) in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, Cláudia was a regular presence in the Espaço Bloom space, of Portugal Fashion, where her production makes the difference in the creation of Menswear. This participation complements and inspires her professional activity as a designer in a Portuguese company specialized in knitted knitwear. It is in this return to the industry that Cláudia (re)invents and enhances the whole reality of knitted knitwear production through the creation of various types of collection from home textiles, to clothing, to homewear, thus assuming her specialization in this industrial field, which remains her creative production of choice.

Susana Bettencourt was born on the island of São Miguel (Azores), but it was in London that she graduated in Fashion Design, specializing in knitwear, at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She later concluded, with distinction, an MA in Digital Fashion at the London College of Fashion. Susana Bettencourt has collaborated with several designers, including Brooke Roberts and the Portuguese Alexandra Moura and Fátima Lopes. In 2011, she made her debut in Portugal Fashion and, in 2014, she participated in Vienna Fashion Week, with production by Portugal Fashion International. With the support of ANJE, she has been present in specialised fairs in cities such as London, Copenhagen and Paris. The young creator has also participated in editions of London Fashion Week and Vancouver Fashion Week, as well as having held a show in Malaysia. Currently, her pieces are sold online on several platforms.

Cláudia Garrido and Susana Bettencourt present a conference on the theme 'Knitwear', as part of the ESAD FASHION TALKS cycle, on the 18th April, at 5:00 pm, in the ESAD auditorium.

The programme ESAD FASHION TALKS of the academic year 2022/23 focuses on the analysis of different fashion market segments, such as the competitive menswear, beachwear and knitwear markets. The aim is to explore the complexity of design skills, from the ideation of concepts to the values and practices implemented in each project.
