
João Bruno Leal Sousa, 1st year student of the Degree in Communication Design, is one of the 10 winners of the Festas de Lisboa’21 Sardine Contest, with the illustration 'Vice Refrain'. Under the motto 10 sardines, 10 winners and 10 stories, the competition had over 2600 entries, coming from 42 countries in total. The list of winners includes seven Portuguese, one Brazilian, one Belarusian and one French.
Vice Refrain, coordinated by João Lemos, concept is a direct reference to the 'Sermon of Saint Anthony to the Fish'. In the sermon, the allegory of fish that eat one another creates a metaphor of Man, his faults and vices.
The contest’s 10th edition selection panel consisted of Filipe Melo, Luís Royal, Joana Astolfi, Carolina Deslandes and Jorge Silva.
For the first time, the winning illustrations will be exhibited in ten EGEAC cultural venues: Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar, Museu da Marioneta, Museu do Aljube - Resistência e Liberdade, Museu do Fado, Museu de Lisboa - Palácio Pimenta, Museu de Lisboa - Santo António, Museu de Lisboa - Teatro Romano, Casa Fernando Pessoa, Museu Bordalo Pinheiro and LU.CA - Teatro Luís de Camões.
