Macedo cannatà

Macedo Cannatà is a multidisciplinary design studio, founded in Porto in 2018, which develops an approach that prioritises content over style, allowing the dialogue processes with the various parties - clients, authors, curators, editors, technicians, producers - to play a determining role in the final result. The work developed by the studio covers visual design and identity, image and branding, exhibitions and installations, websites and books.

The studio, formed by Maria João Macedo, Dário Cannatà, Abel Quental, Hugo Costa and Margarida Morais, collaborates mainly with artists, curators and cultural institutions. Of the collaborations, projects such as the identity of the 5th Istanbul Design Biennial (2020), the new identity and visual communication of Culturgest (since 2018), the communication of the Seismograph (since 2014), the series of publications dedicated to the Serralves Museum Collection (2014-2018) and books by artists such as Alexander Kluge, Bruno Pacheco, Vasco Araújo, Salomé Lamas, Alberto Carneiro or Nairy Baghramian stand out. Macedo Cannatà also has several publications selected by the DGLAB Book Design Award to participate in the international competition Best Book Design from all over the World. Recently, the studio won the contest for the development of the visual identity of the future Batalha Centro de Cinema, to be inaugurated in Oporto later this year.

Macedo Cannatà's team presents a conference and runs a workshop at ESAD, in the scope of ESAD Open Talks. The conference is free and takes place on the 23rd of November, at 17:00, in the ESAD auditorium. The workshop takes place on the 24th and 25th with the students of the 1st year of the Masters in Communication Design.
