The Salvador Caetano Group challenged students from the Undergraduate in Design to create a proposal for an illustrated mural. As part of the Group’s 80th anniversary celebrations, the project was intended to represent its history, values, Ser Caetano culture and vision for the future.

The project was developed as part of the Illustration Project course unit, under the supervision of lecturer Mariana Rio, who organised the “Design to the Future” competition. The winning proposal was developed by 2025/2026 finalists Rita Barradas and Leonor Themudo.

The two students presented their digital mural at the event celebrating Salvador Caetano’s 80th anniversary, held at the end of September. The project reflects the collaboration between Salvador Caetano and ESAD and showcases the students’ work in a real-world business context.

Collaboration between ESAD and companies helps bring education closer to professional practice, creating opportunities for students to respond to real-world challenges, work with external partners and apply the knowledge and skills developed throughout their academic journey.

As part of the “Design to the Future” competition prize, the winning students were also given the opportunity to undertake a curricular internship at the Salvador Caetano Group.
