Because we believe that creating isn’t just about giving shape to things. It’s about questioning, imagining alternatives and making a difference in the world.

Bringing this idea to the city is also about this: getting this way of thinking out there and showcasing a school where you learn to think, experiment, create and turn ideas into reality.

Here, education intersects with research, experimentation, partnerships, exhibitions, culture and the city.

An idea may begin in a class at esad—arte&design, gain depth through research at esad—idea, be tested at Exploratório, find partners through esad-design cluster, and reach the public via Casa do Design and Porto Design Biennale.

You study in one place. You take part in many.

ESAD is out and about in Matosinhos Sul, Casa da Música, Carolina Michaelis, Bolhão, Campo 24 de Agosto and Trindade. And now we want to see just how far this idea will go.
