Porto Letterheads is an international meeting of signpainters, which integrates panel jams, workshops, demonstrations and various activities.
Letterheads emerged in 1975 in Denver, Colorado, when a small group of signpainters met to talk about lettering, signs, and the techniques used to design and produce them. Their approach to sharing knowledge and experience quickly spread among others practising the craft, and led to similar meets elsewhere. Based in the United States, Letterheads have already passed through Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
The event arrives now to Portugal and is hosted by ESAD. Organized by The Lazy Dog Studio, the event runs from August 1 to 4, 2019.
The tickets are already available for sale. ESAD students enjoy discount values, through the APRENDIZ PORTO LETTERHEADS, with a discount of 50% of the total value of the ticket [€ 300 -> € 150]. The volunteer service also guarantees special access to the event.
It's important to cross the history and theory of sign painting with the theories of graphic design (…) The formal education of sign painting has a lot in common with education in graphic design and my thesis has evolved in this direction, in order to try to understand the history of sign painting education and how we can keep it alive, make it even bigger, and I think Letterheads is one way to do it.
