Fashion Design student Mariana Campinho won the 2nd place in the international competition THE LINK 2017, which took place in Cannes at the Palais des Festivals from November 7 to 9, 2017.
Mariana Campinho received a monetary prize of 500 euros, as well as the possibility of obtaining an internship in an international company to be designated. She also has the opportunity to participate in Immagine Italia by Mare d'Amare, an international fair scheduled for July 2018 in Florence.
Of the 27 schools around the world that competed for THE LINK, Mariana Campinho was one of four semi-finalists in the Beachwear category.
The contest was launched to ESAD to represent Portugal in the international event and Mariana Campinho was the invited guest to respond to the proposal. With the support of Maria Gambina, coordinator of the Degree in Fashion Design, Mariana Campinho designed a collection with 4 coordinates, selected to be produced and presented in the grand finale in Cannes.
THE LINK is an annual competition sponsored by the MarediModa consortium to support the creativity of young students from more than 100 of Europe's most prestigious fashion design schools. Participants are challenged to design a mini-collection of beachwear or lingerie, using special fabrics provided by member companies.
Mariana Campinho, however, had the opportunity to participate in a Creativity Week organized by MarediModa for the competition, which took place from October 16 to 20 in Italy, integrating visits to industries, companies, designers and museums.
