Ana Sofia Cardoso

Ana Sofia Cardoso graduated in Interior Design from ESAD in 2009, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Design in 2011. She is currently completing a PhD programme at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. Throughout her professional career she has combined university teaching and research, lecturing on ESAD’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Design.
In 2017 and 2018, she taught an open class as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. She took part as a juror in the University of Porto’s “Encontro Jovem” (editions 9 to 11). She has taken part in colloquia, round tables and national and international meetings. Her published research work includes the book dedicated to the work of architect Marques da Silva (“Colecção Arquitectos Portugueses”, vol. 3, QuidNovi/Público, 2011); the introductory text of “A Casa de Quem Faz as Casas: Uma Colecção de Surpresas”, dedicated to architect Manuel Graça Dias (coord. Maria Milano and Roberto Cremascoli, vol. 6, Público, 2017). She carried out the research and narrative texts for the television documentaries produced by André Tentúgal and directed by Margarida Sá Coutinho (Frente Atlântica/Porto Canal, 2017). Her work as a curator includes the exhibition Passado, Presente e Futuro — 20 Anos de MatosinhosHabit (Matosinhos City Council, NorteShopping and Casa da Arquitectura, 2018). Member of the board of esad—idea (2019-2022). Principal Investigator in projects such as “O Bairro Está IN(clusivo)” (“Bairros Saudáveis” programme, funded by the Government of Portugal), and “Dwelling in Transition” (funded by DGArtes). She is currently the coordinator of the Blue Design Alliance short courses.
