Bárbara Paixão (1994, Bombarral) is a digital artist and lecturer in the field of new media. She creates generative visuals, interactive installations and VJ sets.

Inspired by the synergy between art and technology, her work focuses on the interaction between the body and the computer. It is through the format of audiovisual installations that she makes the most of interactive experiences, frequently working with sensors that detect human presence and software that operates in real time. The use of real-time technology also enables her to create visuals that are responsive to sound, as well as being manipulated live, thereby creating synaesthetic experiences.

She lives in Porto and works as a freelancer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design (2018) from the Caldas da Rainha School of Arts and Design and a master’s degree in Interactive Systems and Media (2021) from the School of Media, Arts and Design in Vila do Conde. As a lecturer in higher education, she teaches courses in Visual and Creative Programming, Interaction Design for Communication Design, and Digital Workshop.
