The 60’s were defined by the emergence of the Counterculture movement which gave birth to Psychedelic Art to be used in posters and album covers. In recent years, the ideals and themes that characterize Psychedelic Art have become popular once again in Neo-psychedelic Art which is this project’s central theme.

We shall begin by conducting a survey of the artistic movements that influenced classic Psychedelia, followed by a detailed description of its visual, technical and thematic characteristics, and also an inventory of the main artists which have influenced it. We will proceed with the survey on Neo-psychedelia, comparing it to Psychedelic Art and analyse the artists who have been disseminating it.

The practical side of the project consisted in the creation of twenty Neo-Psychedelic album covers that have been recently edited, but are not necessarily Psychedelic Rock. The covers have been created resorting to digital illustration and photographic collage. The intention behind exercice was to explore techniques and themes of Neo-psychedelia using the main tools associated whith this style.
