Holders of a diploma from Secondary School Dual Certification Courses and Specialized Artistic Courses may apply to ESAD's degree courses through the Dual Certification and Specialized Artistic Courses Procedure, provided that the diploma falls within the areas of education and training that make it possible to apply to each cycle of studies: Audiovisual and Media Production (213), Design (214), according to the three-digit CNAEF classification, and take a Practical Drawing Test at ESAD.

Applications for admission via Dual Certification and Specialized Artistic Courses are made online after the results of the Practical Drawing Test have been published at ESAD.

Under the terms of the Deliberation of the National Commission for Access to Higher Education (CNAES), applicants to the College of Art and Design (ESAD) must meet the PREREQUISITES — group F (Annex VIII) — required for application and enrolment in the 2024-25 academic year, in the 1st cycle courses in Design and Digital Arts and Multimedia.

To take the Practical Drawing Test, prospective candidates must register using the form: registration for the test, which is intended to assess the knowledge and skills considered essential for entry and advancement in the cycle of studies to which they are applying.

Applications for ESAD courses are made on a pedagogical management platform, and the process of submitting information and documents can be done remotely or in person at the school's academic services.

Prerequisites

GROUP F – Visual and Motor Ability
Medical certificate, in line with Annex VIII.1, proving visual acuity and the absence of a mental, sensory or motor disability that interferes with functional capacity to the point of preventing learning by oneself or by others; to be handed in at the time of enrolment, at the ESAD office, which is an essential condition for enrolment and registration (Decree-Law no. 316/2024 of March 13).
 
The Medical Certificate must be handed in at the time of enrolment.

Other Information

For applications submitted by holders of courses from Member States of the European Union, which are legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, and confer dual school and vocational certification, and which confer level 4 qualifications of the European Qualifications Framework, or by Portuguese citizens who hold other foreign courses, which are legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, and confer dual school and vocational certification, the tests referred to in paragraph b) of no. 1 of article 13-C of Decree-Law no. 113/2014, of July 16, will be considered. The tests referred to in Article 13c(1)(b) of Decree-Law no. 113/2014, of July 16, conferred by Decree-Law no. 11/2020, of April 2, in its current wording, may be replaced by the equivalent final tests of the respective education systems, by decision of the legally and statutorily responsible body, under the terms and conditions set by the CNAES decision.
 
Students covered by the International Student Statute, according to Decree-Law no. 62/2018 of August 6, which amends and republishes the international student statute published by Decree-Law no. 36/2014 of March 10 and amended by Decree-Law no. 113/2014 of July 16, cannot apply for the Dual Certification Holders and Specialized Artistic Courses competition.
