For high school students

The Fashion Summer Course gives you a practical insight into what it’s like to study and work in fashion design. ESAD helps you decide whether this field is right for you!

Profile

Participants should bring a snack for the morning and afternoon, as well as a reusable water bottle. They may also bring their own lunch and heat it up in the microwave or buy it from the ESAD Bar.

One week, many workshops

Creative research in fashion: from concept to mood boards

Motivations, research methodologies and building a reference framework in the creative process in fashion. Tutor: Joana Teodoro

Fashion drawing(s) and sketchbook

Drawing as a form of expression, experimentation and creative thinking applied to fashion design. Tutor: Helena Cordeiro

Fashion collection project

Concept, collection development, sketches and three-dimensional prototyping. Tutors: Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida

Try out the workshop: sewing and garment construction

Hand sewing and an introduction to the sewing machine. Instructors: Clementina Delgado and Colete Brites

How you’ll work:

  • Workshops and technical facilities
  • Close guidance from lecturers with practical experience
  • Fellow students with similar interests
  • A methodology centred on doing, testing and refining.

What you’ll take away

Throughout the week, you’ll develop your own visual content and projects that can be included in your portfolio for applications to higher education and merit-based scholarships.

More than just a one-off experience, this is an opportunity to test your vocation through rigorous challenges, guidance and real-world context.

Fee

The registration fee must be paid at the time of enrolment, with the remaining tuition balance to be settled by 26 June.
