Gastronomic Photography
Photography, food styling and artistic direction in the gourmet world.
This short course proposes a visual approach to gastronomy as a cultural and sensory object, exploring its expressive potential through image. Throughout the course, participants explore light, composition, support materials and the construction of atmosphere. The methodology is practical and project-orientated. Each participant develops an authorial photographic series, with personalised accompaniment, studio sessions and moments of criticism and reflection. The course ends with a group show and final presentation of the work.

Participants must be accompanied by a camera or mobile phone with this capability.
Competences
- Understand the fundamentals of gastronomic photography and its cultural and communicational importance.
- Identify and explore the visual and sensory elements of gourmet cuisine that are relevant to the creation of photographic compositions.
- Apply image capture and digital editing techniques, using different equipment and technical and aesthetic approaches.
- Explore the impact of lighting, support materials and food styling choices on the visual perception of food.
- Analyse and integrate visual references from gastronomy, art, nature, fashion and contemporary trends into moodboards and photographic series.
- Develop an original photographic series, articulating concept, art direction and technical execution.
- Critically evaluate photographic productions and the creative process itself, considering technical, aesthetic, symbolic and environmental criteria.
