Every year ESAD ID Talks organise a series of conferences at ESAD with prestigious national and international designers, who share their professional experiences and present the behind-the-scenes aspects of their projects and processes.

This cycle of conferences and workshops is part of the programme of the Master's Degree in Product Design and the Postgraduate Degrees in Mobility Design and Furniture Design.

André Fangueiro

Theme: How to Scale Design into Business Innovation
André Fangueiro has a degree in Product Design from ESAD and a Master in Industrial Design and Structures from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (Poland). His professional background spans a variety of industries and brands, including Giant Bicycles, Canon and Nestlé. In 2014, he founded his own design and business innovation company Studio Lata. Winner of the IF Award Gold, he has exhibited at TATE (London) and is currently Design Director at Tietoevry.

João Ornelas

Theme: Ideas to Reality through Sketch Thinking
João Ornelas is an award-winning industrial designer specialising in automotive and motorbike design. He graduated in Design from ESAP (Porto) and in Transport Design from Art Center College of Design (Switzerland). He began his professional career at Renault, where he designed the Renault Pangea concept-car (1997). Throughout his professional career, he has received several distinctions, such as the ABC Mobility Design Award, three Red Dot Awards, iF & Good Design Product Design Awards, DME Design Management Award and Merchandising Design Gold Award.

Gabriel Tan

Theme: Sustaining Crafts through Design Gabriel Tan
Gabriel Tan is the founder of Gabriel Tan Studio and Studio Antimatter. In 2020, he moved to Porto to create a second design office for Gabriel Tan Studio / Studio Antimatter and established Origin Made, a brand of design collectibles that aims to rejuvenate Portuguese craftsmanship through collaborations between local and international artisans and designers.
