Tomé Quadros

 

Tomé Quadros holds a PhD in Science and Technology of the Arts, specializing in Cinema and Audiovisuals, from the School of Arts of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, with a final grade of summa cum laude with 19 points. He is the Pedagogical Director, President of the Pedagogical Council and a member of the Scientific Council at ESAD, where he is also an Assistant Professor. He is an integrated member of esad—idea. He is a guest lecturer on the Undergraduate Degree in Fine Arts and Artistic Technologies at the Escola Superior de Educação do Politécnico de Viana do Castelo and the Master's Degree in Communication and Media at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of São José in the Macau Special Administrative Region — People's Republic of China.

Since 2024, Tomé Quadros has been a member of the Assessment Commission at the Higher Education Assessment and Accreditation Agency (A3ES, Portugal), as a national expert in arts research and practice. Since 2018, he has served as a coordinator for the Portugal Entre Patrimónios initiative, organized by the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC, Lisbon, Portugal), in partnership with esad—idea. His academic work has included presentations in Germany, China, Japan and Portugal. Academic publications: “Social transformation in the eyes of contemporary Chinese cinema and Dogme 95”, chapter published in the book (Inter)cultural Dialogue Through Arts and Media by Senses Publishers (ISBN: 978- 94-6300-421-3); editor of the book Image in the Post-Millenium: Mediation, Process and Critical Tension (ISBN 978-94-93148-60-4), published in partnership by esad-idea and Onomatopee Publisher.

Over the last decade, Tomé Quadros has been involved in artistic and project production. Of particular note are his films made in 2016 and 2006, Macau Reframe and Nam Van Square, shown respectively at the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture, Shenzhen, People's Republic of China, and at the 10th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, Italy. As well as Mosaico, um desenho coletivo (2022), coordinated by and representing esad—idea at the 8th meeting of the national project Portugal entre Patrimónios (November 23, National Museum of Contemporary Art — MNAC, Lisbon); and In between this and something else (2021), an exhibition by the artist Nuno Cera at the Biodiversity Gallery — Rectory of the University of Porto, coordinated by Magda Seifert and Tomé Quadros and produced by esad—idea.
