Marco Balesteros is a graduate in Communication Design, founder of Letra studio and co-founder of T-I-M-E, The Institute of Mirrors and Echoes, in partnership with Alexandre Balgiu and Sara Vaz. He is also professor and curator at DELLI and guest adjunct professor of the Masters in Graphic Design at ESAD.CR.

João Castro, founder of The Royal Studio, develops his practice on the frontiers of identity, culture and authorship in digital arts and communication design. Throughout his professional career he has assumed, in a polyhedral way, the roles of designer, editor, art director, curator, consultant, teacher, jury, lecturer, researcher and writer in disparate projects of public, political, private and artistic nature.

John Morgan, founder of John Morgan Studio, co-founder of the type foundry Abyme, is professor of design, typography and editorial art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (Germany). Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea addresses a selection of projects conceived by John Morgan Studioo over the past twenty-three years.
Paul McNeil

Paul McNeil is a graphic designer, writer and educator. In 2009, he co-founded MuirMcNeil with Hamish Muir, a design consultancy focused on exploring systematic methods in visual communication. He is the author of the book The Visual History of Type (2017). He was director of the MA in Contemporary Typographic Media at the London College of Communication.

Nina Paim

Nina Paim (BR), a Brazilian designer, editor and curator with directing experience, has collaborated on several exhibitions, workshops and events, including the experimental Open School (2012) in Rio de Janeiro; Taking a Line for a Walk (2014), at the Brno Design Biennale; and Department of Non-Binaries (2018), at the Fikra Design Biennale.

Macedo Cannatà

Macedo Cannatà is a multidisciplinary design studio, founded in Porto in 2018, which develops an approach that prioritises content over style, allowing the processes of dialogue with the various parties - clients, authors, curators, editors, technicians, producers - to play a determining role in the final result. The studio's work encompasses visual design and identity, image and branding, exhibitions and installations, websites and books.

Andrew Howard

Andrew Howard, coordinator of the MA in Communication Design at ESAD, British graphic designer, educator, design writer and curator, who has lived and worked in Porto since 1993. He is also the founder of Studio Andrew Howard, a studio specialising in design for cultural and educational organisations and institutions. Andrew is presenting a conference as part of ESAD Open Talks.
